About Our Church

A community of faith in West Baton Rouge since 1872

Our History

West Baton Rouge Presbyterian Church was founded in 1872, rooted in the conviction that the gospel of Jesus Christ transforms lives and communities. From our earliest days meeting in a modest hall on the river road, we have grown into a congregation that serves the people of West Baton Rouge and the surrounding parishes.

Over more than 150 years, our church family has weathered floods, wars, and seasons of great change — always returning to the same source of strength: the Word of God and the fellowship of believers. Our current sanctuary, with its beloved stained glass windows, was dedicated in 1958 and remains the heart of our shared worship.

Our Mission

We exist to worship God, grow in faith together, and serve our neighbors in West Baton Rouge with the love of Christ. We are a welcoming congregation — young and old, longtime members and new friends — committed to living out the gospel in practical ways.

  • Worship — Gathering weekly to praise God through Scripture, prayer, and song.
  • Grow — Deepening our faith through Bible study, Sunday school, and Christian fellowship.
  • Serve — Reaching out to our community through service projects and care for our neighbors.
